Ductless mini-splits
Mini-splits that cool and dry one room at a time.
A wall or ceiling unit indoors, a small outdoor unit, and a line set between them. No ducts to run.
They suit additions, sunrooms, older rooms with no ductwork and any room a central system never reached. Sized to the room, a variable-speed unit runs longer at low speed, which is when it removes the most moisture.
Wall-mounted and ceiling units
One outdoor unit for one or more rooms
Heating as well as cooling on heat-pump models

Signs a mini-split fits
When one makes sense.
A room addition or a sunroom
Nobody ran ducts to it, and it holds heat and moisture.
One room that never matches the rest
The air conditioner is fine everywhere but the back bedroom.
A house with no ducts
Many homes have no room to run them.
A damp room that needs drying more than cooling
A unit with a dry setting can help, within limits.
Controls
Set the humidity, not just the temperature.
Many units have a dry mode. Some can hold a humidity setting, and some can't.
We tell you which your unit does and show you how to set it. Pairing the unit with a wall control or a room sensor can keep it from short-cycling. Whatever it can't hold on its own, a dehumidifier can.
We set up dry mode and check it works
We show you the settings that matter, in the room
We say plainly what the unit can't hold

What drives the cost
What moves the price of a mini-split.
No dollar figures here. The written scope has them.
How many rooms
Each room is a unit, or a ceiling cassette.
Wall or ceiling units
A ceiling cassette takes more work than a wall unit.
Line-set length
The distance between the indoor and outdoor units.
Electrical
A breaker, a disconnect and wire to the unit.
Condensate
A gravity drain, or a pump where gravity won't do.
Where the outdoor unit sits
A pad, a bracket or a slab, and clearance around it.
Questions about mini-splits
Do mini-splits heat too?
Most heat-pump models do, and in a Gulf Coast winter that's usually enough for a room. We say which kind we're proposing.
Will it be loud?
The indoor unit is quiet in most rooms. The outdoor unit makes some sound, so we pick its spot away from a bedroom window where we can.
How much cleaning does it need?
Filters need rinsing on the maker's schedule, and the coils and drain need a look now and then. We offer service visits for that.
